Catchy As Heck!

Calum Ross & the Scarlets are a powerful band from South Wales. Their original, hook-laden pop echoes back to the 60s, when records were three minutes long with killer choruses. Influenced by Motown, The Rolling Stones, Ray Charles, The Kinks and a decade of classic bands, the sound is vintage... with a modern crunch.

Calum’s soulful voice carries the four-piece from thundering pop to atmospheric blues - in a set packed with musical archaeology. Bo Diddley beats, tremolo guitar and fat bass... all this plus songs to die for. The past never sounded so new.

Here Is The News

The band recently entertained the crowds coming to see Swan Lake at the Wales Millennium Centre. How did the ballet cognoscenti take to some thundering pop? Loved it, of course!
The band went down a storm recently, with a crackin live session on BBC Radio Wales’ Evening Show. Check out video footage of the session here on the BBC website or here on the Video page.
Work on the band’s debut E.P. has just been completed, featuring four pop classics, including the lush Swansea anthem ‘Ugly, lovely town’. Available from all good stockists (ie: us).
An early morning photo shoot at Penarth pier caused a stir when dozens of scooter-riding mods from A.C.E. revved up unexpectedly. The press claimed the town hadn’t seen the like of it since a riot in 1967. Click on Gallery for the excellent pictures.
